The hair dryer is an essential tool that we could no longer do without, for the beauty salon but also in the home. The operation of the hair dryer can be attributed to the electric motor of which it is composed that rotates a fan, this fan draws in and moves air that passes through a heating element and is heated.
The history of the first hair dryers
We take this operation for granted, but before the invention of the hair dryer, how did people dry their hair? In beauty salons all over the world they must have been particularly creative, because in order to dry their hair they would stick to the vacuum cleaner. For real!
The first real hair dryer was invented by French stylist Alexander Godefroy; it consisted of a hood with a hood attached to a hose from a gas stove. It was heavy and cumbersome, the customer had to sit underneath and a crank would blow hot air over her hair.
Another attempt to dry hair using a less cumbersome tool was just the case with the vacuum cleaner that sucked air in from one side and pushed it out the back. One can easily imagine how many problems this could entail, as well as enormous inconvenience, until shortly afterwards, the idea of combining the air coming out of the vacuum cleaner with a blender motor gave birth to the first portable hair dryer.
The turning point of the 1960s
The early models were large and heavy, made of metal, and very dangerous: just a little water was enough to procure a short circuit. In 1951 a new type of hair dryer was created that consisted of a tube attached to a hat connected to the hair dryer. When operated, air would come out of the holes in the hood, drying at a higher power than previous models, about 300 watts.
During the 1960s the situation changed dramatically due to the technological advancement of motors inside hair dryers. Hair dryers began to be lighter and capable of putting out 500 W of heat.
The advent of Parlux: the world's first plastic hair dryer
The world of hair dryers was growing at an exponential rate, despite still being far from today's standards. One of the greatest innovations in the world of professional beauty was the radical change in hair dryer construction materials: in 1977 Parlux introduced the Parlux Superturbo 1500 hair dryer, the first hair dryer in the world to be made of plastic, a much lighter and safer material.
This was the first hair dryer to mount a truly high-performance motor capable of meeting the professional needs of beauty salons, reaching higher temperatures and equipped with convenient and practical switches.
The Italian company began to make a name for itself in Europe and around the world, winning several international awards. Technical study to improve airflow and continuous technological upgrades brought numerous performance results and earned Parlux increasing acclaim from hairstylists around the world.
