Hair dryer for wavy hair: is there a specific model?

Hair dryers are not all the same, and power alone is often not enough as an indication of a good hair dryer for wavy hair. What is the sketch of the perfect hair dryer for sculpting waves? Follow the tips from Parlux experts.

Is there a specific hair dryer model for wavy hair? The answer is yes. There are, in fact, certain features that make a hair dryer perfect for this particular type of hair.

Although in the summer time nothing is like drying hair in the sun after a nice swim in the sea, there are hair dryer models that sculpt waves just like after a day at the beach.

The features of hair dryers for wavy hair

In general, we always recommend going for professional hair dryers that are high-performance and safe in every respect. There is nothing better than being able to rely on a hair dryer that respects every type of hair and preserves its health.

For a hair dryer to be perfect for wavy hair, however, it must possess certain specific features.

A quality, lightweight diffuser for thicker waves, or a nozzle for more relaxed waves

The absolute must-have in any wavy hair dryer is certainly the diffuser: by evenly distributing the air stream it preserves the soft shape of your natural wavy hair.

For more relaxed beach waves, however, simply put the nozzle in place of the diffuser and blow-dry the hair with the help of your hands or a round brush, finishing the blow-dry with the head down to give more volume.

A good combination of power and airflow
A hair dryer for wavy hair needs to have a good combination of power and airflow to ensure you get consistent and precise drying. In fact, to get perfect waves, it's best to avoid too powerful an airflow: opt for a hair dryer model that allows you to keep the power under control.

A plus? Ion technology for even better drying.
Wavy (or curly) hair all has one thing in common: the risk of frizz always lurking, especially if there is any hint of moisture in the air.

A negative ion hair dryer allows hair to dry perfectly and without frizz, leaving it well-defined for longer.

This is an optional feature, but it is another plus point that makes a hair dryer even more suitable for wavy hair prone to frizz.

How to dry wavy hair with a diffuser

Drying wavy hair with a diffuser is simple, because the accessory will be the one to even out the heat on the hair. To get a top result, follow these simple steps. Attach the diffuser to the blow dryer and bring your head forward. Dry the roots first, setting a medium temperature and the hair dryer's air jet at maximum power. Apply the diffuser in contact with the scalp and wait 60-90 seconds per area until it is completely dry. When the roots are dry, raise your head and move on to the ends, inserting one strand after another into the diffuser. Try to keep the blow dryer parallel to the length of the hair and not to touch the strands too much with your hands. Rather, use a finishing product to sculpt the wavy effect.

How to get wavy hair with a hair dryer and nozzle

To get wavy hair with a blow dryer and nozzle you will also need a round brush, preferably a ceramic one. After summarily drying your hair, divide it into layers from top to bottom, leaving only the strands at the base of your head free. Now wrap one strand behind the other on the brush and, resting the nozzle without pushing the hot air away, unroll the strand, giving it movement. Continue layer by layer until the entire head is dry.
